It is our honour and pleasure to host the 10th European Jodo Championships in the United
Kingdom. This is the 10th anniversary of the commencement of the European Jodo
Championships and it has been wonderful to witness its growth, both in scale and level of Jodo
being displayed.
I would personally like to welcome you all to this pinnacle event and hope that you find the
experience rewarding and enjoyable. We are holding the event in Stevenage which I hope
provides the utmost convenience to you for both transport and accommodation.
I am also delighted that this year the EKF have approved our suggestion to hold an informal 6th
dan taikai with a view to making it an official one next year. This will mean of course that
countries would have to decide in future whether to field 6th dans as competitors or as referees
but this year only they can do both. With this in mind, applications for the 6th dan
taikai need to be made to the BKA only and not to the EKF this year.
The team of officers and volunteers who are involved in the organisation of the championships
are devoted to assisting you to make the most of this annual event.
I look forward to seeing you here.
